It has left me languishing so lonesome and so blue.

And how many times will I pretend I'm facinated by the ordinary

I'm in a Mexican restaurant with a friend of a friend of a friend.

He's been burned so many times he's scared to try again.

He's chain-smoking Camels while I sip decaf tea.

I'm about as comfortable with him as he is with me.



But how many times will he have to tell some stranger his life story

Which gets longer and longer and longer the longer he lives on this earth?

And how many times will he pretend he's facinated by the ordinary

I have put on some makeup; I have combed my hair.

I thought this was a subway; no, it's a Love Train; nothing but couples

everywhere.

I'm standing in a museum; this guy is twenty-five minutes late.

Patience is a virtue I have never possessed; I'm giving up on this date.



But wait! Here he is approaching. He smiles, French-kisses my hand.

We wander around; we're gazing at paintings I cannot understand.

So I ask a whole lot of questions, but it turns out that he hates art.

He thought a museum was a perfect place to meet; I think it is a perfect

place to part.

J'ai rompu avec mon bébé. Même si c'était la bonne chose à faire,

Cela m'a laissé languir si solitaire et si bleu.

Je suis dans un restaurant mexicain avec un ami d'un ami d'un ami.

Il a été brûlé tant de fois qu'il a peur de réessayer.

Il fume des chameaux à la chaîne pendant que je sirote du thé décaféiné.

Je suis à peu près aussi à l'aise avec lui qu'avec moi.

J'ai mis du maquillage; J'ai peigné mes cheveux.

Je pensais que c'était un métro; non, c'est un train d'amour; rien que des couples

partout.

Je me tiens dans un musée; ce type a vingt-cinq minutes de retard.

La patience est une vertu que je n'ai jamais possédée; J'abandonne cette date.



Mais attendez! Ici, il approche. Il sourit, French-embrasse ma main.

Nous nous promenons; nous regardons des peintures que je ne comprends pas.
