theres a cat on the steps

and I sure could use a lesson from her

she got sly yellow eyes

she got three-coloured crazy-quilt fur

she slinks and creeps, she leaps and she teases

but whatever she does, she does just as she pleases

she just stretches out in the sun

she got all the local dogs on the run

shes lean and mean, shes a backyard queen

and she looks out for number one

and nobody can break her heart



on those hot summer nights

all the toms come round to woo her

but she turns up her nose

cause they dont mean a damn thing to her

well shell pick them over when shes in the mood

but when shes not, look out,

she aint afraid to be rude

elle est maigre et méchante, elle est une reine du jardin

ces chaudes nuits d'été

tous les toms viennent la courtiser

mais elle tourne le nez

parce qu'ils ne signifient rien pour elle

bien coquille les ramasser quand elle est d'humeur

mais quand ce n'est pas le cas, attention,

elle n'a pas peur d'être grossière
