Desperate cries that I couldn't ignore

She was pleading with him to leave her alone

I was trembling with fear as I picked up the phone

And I hoped and I prayed that she would survive

As I waited on edge for help to arrive

And I thought of her son and I wished that her screams

Wouldn't find their way into his innocent dreams

She needs compassion and support

Hier soir, j'ai entendu la femme d'à côté

Des cris désespérés que je ne pouvais ignorer

Elle le suppliait de la laisser seule

Je tremblais de peur en décrochant le téléphone

Et j'espérais et j'ai prié qu'elle survivrait

Alors que j'attendais de l'aide pour arriver

Et j'ai pensé à son fils et j'ai souhaité que ses cris

Ne trouverait pas son chemin dans ses rêves innocents
