The silent river and barren tree

The humble creatures that no man sees

A weary journey one winter's night

No hope of shelter, no rest in sight

Who was the creature that bore Mary?

A simple donkey



And when they came into Bethl'hem town

They found a stable to lay them down

For their companions that Christmas night

An ox and an ass



And then an angel came down to earth

To bear the news of the Saviour's birth

The first to marvel were shepherds poor

And sheep with their lambs

La rivière silencieuse et l'arbre stérile

Les humbles créatures qu'aucun homme ne voit

Un voyage fatigué une nuit d'hiver

Aucun espoir d'abri, aucun repos en vue

Qui était la créature qui a porté Marie?

Un simple âne



Et quand ils sont entrés dans la ville de Bethl'hem

Ils ont trouvé une étable pour les coucher

Pour leurs compagnons cette nuit de Noël

Un b?uf et un âne



Et puis un ange est descendu sur terre

Pour annoncer la naissance du Sauveur

Les premiers à s'émerveiller étaient les bergers pauvres

Et des moutons avec leurs agneaux
