Our troop was made ready at the dawn of the day

From lovely Enniskillen they were marching us away.

They put us then on board a ship to cross the raging main,

To fight in bloody battle in the sunny land of Spain.

And all around the borders of Erin's green isle;

And when the war is over we'll return in full bloom

And you'll all welcome home the Enniskillen Dragoons.



Oh Spain it is a gallant land where wine and ale flow free

There's lots of lovely women there to dandle on your knee

And often in a tavern there we'd make the rafters ring

When every soldier in the house would raise his glass and sing

Well we fought for Ireland's glory there and many a man did fall

From musket and from bayonet and from thundering cannon ball

And many a foeman we laid low, amid the battle throng

And as we prepared for action you would often hear this song

Notre troupe était prête à l'aube

De la belle Enniskillen, ils nous éloignaient.

Ils nous ont ensuite mis à bord d'un navire pour traverser la principale rage,

Pour combattre dans une bataille sanglante dans la terre ensoleillée d'Espagne.

Oh l'Espagne c'est une terre galante où le vin et la bière coulent librement

Il y a beaucoup de jolies femmes là-bas pour se mettre à genoux

Et souvent dans une taverne, nous faisions sonner les chevrons

Quand chaque soldat de la maison lèverait son verre et chanterait

Eh bien, nous nous sommes battus pour la gloire de l'Irlande là-bas et beaucoup d'hommes sont tombés

Du mousquet et de la baïonnette et du boulet de canon tonitruant

Et beaucoup de foeman nous avons mis bas, au milieu de la foule de bataille

Et pendant que nous nous préparions à l'action, vous entendiez souvent cette chanson

Eh bien maintenant les combats sont terminés et pour la maison, nous avons mis les voiles,

Notre drapeau au-dessus de ce navire noble flotte dans le vent:

Ils nous ont donné une pension de quatre pence chacun par jour
