I was a PFC on a searchpatrol, hunting Charlie down.

It was in the jungle, wars of '65.

My weapon jammed and I got stuck way out and all alone

and I could hear the enemy moving in close outside.

Just then I heard a twig snap, and I grabbed my empty gun

and I dug it scared while I counted down my faith.

And then a big marine, a giant with a pair of friendly eyes

appeared there at my shoulder and said: "Wait"

When he came in close beside me, he said: "Don't worry son, I'm here..

if Charlie wants to tango, now he'll have two to dodge.

I said: "Well, thanks a lot". I told him my name and asked him his.

And he said"The boys just call me Camouflage"

I was awfully glad to see this big marine.



Well I was gonna ask him where he came from,

when we heard the bullets fly,

coming through the brush and all around our ears.

It was then I saw this big marine, a lotta fire in his eyes.

And it was strange, but suddenly I forgot my fears.



Well we faught all night, side by side, we took our battlestands.

And I wondered how the bullets missed this man.

Cus they seemed to go right through him, just as if he wasn't there

and the morning we both took a chance and ran.

And it was near the riverbank when the ambush came on top of us

and I thought it was the end, we were had.

Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzing through a bush

and that big marine, he just swat it, with his hands.

Just like it was a fly.

This was an awfully strange marine.



And I knew there was something weird about him,

cus when I turned around he was pulling a big palmtree

right up out of the ground and swatting those Charlie's with it,

from here to Kingdom Come.



When he lead me out the danger, I saw my camp and waved goodbye,

he just winked at me from the jungle and then was gone.

And when I got back to my H.Q. I told them about my night,

and the battle I've spent with a big marine named Camouflage.

When I said his name, the soldier gulped, and a medic took my arm

and lead me to a green tent on the right.

He said: "You may be telling true boy, but this here is Camouflage.

And he's been right here since he passed away last night.

In fact he's been here all week long.

But before he went he said: "Semper Fi", and said his only wish,

was to save a young marine caught in a mirage.

So here, take his dogtag, son. I know he'd want you to have it now"

And we both said a prayer for a big marine named Camouflage.

So next time you're in a junglefight, and you feel a presence near

or hear a voice that in your mind will lie,

just be thankful that you're not alone and you've got some company,

from a big marine, the boys called Camouflage

J'étais PFC dans un patrouille de recherche, traquant Charlie.

C'était dans la jungle, les guerres de '65.

Mon arme s'est coincée et je me suis retrouvé coincé tout seul

et je pouvais entendre l'ennemi se rapprocher de l'extérieur.

À ce moment-là, j'ai entendu une brindille se briser et j'ai attrapé mon arme vide

et je l'ai creusé effrayé pendant que je décomptais ma foi.

Et puis un grand marin, un géant avec une paire d'yeux amicaux

est apparu à mon épaule et a dit: "Attendez"

Quand il est venu près de moi, il a dit: "Ne t'inquiète pas mon fils, je suis là ..

si Charlie veut du tango, maintenant il en aura deux à esquiver.

J'ai dit: "Eh bien, merci beaucoup". Je lui ai dit mon nom et lui ai demandé le sien.

Et il a dit "Les garçons m'appellent juste Camouflage"

J'étais terriblement heureux de voir ce grand marin.



J'allais lui demander d'où il venait,

quand nous avons entendu les balles voler,

passant à travers la brosse et tout autour de nos oreilles.

C'est alors que j'ai vu ce grand marine, un feu lotta dans ses yeux.

Et c'était étrange, mais soudain, j'ai oublié mes peurs.



Eh bien, nous avons combattu toute la nuit, côte à côte, nous avons pris nos batailles.

Et je me suis demandé comment les balles avaient manqué cet homme.

Parce qu'ils semblaient le traverser, comme s'il n'était pas là \u003cbr />
et le matin, nous avons tous deux tenté notre chance et couru.

Et c'était près de la rive quand l'embuscade est venue au dessus de nous

et je pensais que c'était la fin, nous nous étions fait avoir.

Puis une balle avec mon nom est apparue dans un buisson

et ce grand marin, il l'a juste tapé avec ses mains.

Tout comme c'était une mouche.

C'était un marin terriblement étrange.



Et je savais qu'il y avait quelque chose de bizarre en lui,

car quand je me suis retourné, il tirait un gros palmier

tout droit sorti du sol et tapotant ceux de Charlie avec,

d'ici à Kingdom Come.



Quand il m'a conduit hors du danger, j'ai vu mon camp et j'ai fait mes adieux,

il m'a juste fait un clin d'?il depuis la jungle, puis il est parti.

Et quand je suis revenu à mon QG Je leur ai parlé de ma nuit,

et la bataille que j'ai passée avec un grand marine nommé Camouflage.

Quand j'ai dit son nom, le soldat a dégluti et un médecin m'a pris le bras

et conduisez-moi à une tente verte sur la droite.

Il a dit: "Vous dites peut-être vrai garçon, mais voici Camouflage.

Et il est ici depuis qu'il est décédé la nuit dernière.

En fait, il est ici toute la semaine.

Mais avant de partir, il a dit: "Sempre Fi", et a dit son seul souhait,

était de sauver un jeune marin pris dans un mirage.

Alors ici, prenez son dogtag, fils. Je sais qu'il voudrait que tu l'aies maintenant "

Et nous avons tous deux dit une prière pour un grand marine nommé Camouflage.

Alors la prochaine fois que vous êtes dans un combat dans la jungle, et vous sentez une présence près de

ou entendre une voix qui mentira dans votre esprit,

soyez juste reconnaissant que vous n'êtes pas seul et que vous ayez de la compagnie,

d'un grand marine, les garçons appelés Camouflage
