In my daddy's yard

There's a worn out wooden swing

So I asked him once

What's the story with that thing

He said "That ring of gold, that's on your momma's hand"

"Well son this is where it all began "



This swing hung from the tree

Where the girl asked the boy will you play with me

And the sun shined bright and the world spun round

And they grew up till it all came down

From the church where they stood and said "I Do"

Where the bells rang out and the love was true

And it grew in the hearts of the man and the woman

Who lived in the house that love built



When I'm with the girl

That stole my heart away

Well I gave that ole' swing

A brand new coat of paint

And I told the tale as we swung "to and fro"

And I said I hope this is how our story goes

Dans la cour de mon papa

Il y a une balançoire en bois usée

Alors je lui ai demandé une fois

Quelle est l'histoire de ce truc

Il a dit "Cette bague en or, c'est sur la main de ta maman"

"Eh bien mon fils, c'est là que tout a commencé\"



Cette balançoire accrochée à l'arbre

Où la fille a demandé au garçon, vas-tu jouer avec moi

Et le soleil brillait et le monde tournait en rond

Et ils ont grandi jusqu'à ce que tout s'écroule

De l'église où ils se tenaient et disaient "Oui"

Où les cloches ont sonné et que l'amour était vrai

Et ça a grandi dans le c?ur de l'homme et de la femme

Qui vivait dans la maison que l'amour a construite



Quand je suis avec la fille

Qui a volé mon c?ur

Eh bien, j'ai donné ce vieux swing

Une toute nouvelle couche de peinture

Et j'ai raconté l'histoire alors que nous nous balançions "d'avant en arrière"

Et j'ai dit que j'espère que c'est ainsi que se déroule notre histoire
