Chickens In The Trees - Sesame Street

A pig, wearing a farmer outfit and holding a banjo, is sitting under a tree. If you look carefully, you can see the outlines of six chickens in the leaves of the tree.



Pig: (singing) Oh, there are chickens in the trees,

There are chickens in the trees.

Won't you listen to me, please?



(briefly, the chickens flutter about in the branches)



There are chickens in the trees.



Rooster: (entering from the right) Excuse me, old pig. I couldn't help but overhear you. Would you mind singing that song again, please?



Pig: Why, not at all - ahem...

(sings) Oh there are chickens in the trees,

There are chickens in the trees.

Won't you listen to me, please?



(briefly, the chickens flutter about again)



There are chickens in the trees.



Rooster: You know, that's a very nice song, but you've got it quite, quite wrong. I happen to be a professional chicken and I know for a fact that chickens don't live in trees.



Pig: Hmmm ... is that so?



Rooster: Absolutely. The very idea is utterly ridiculous, quite ridiculous. Chickens in the trees, indeed. What will they think of next?



(storms off)



Pig: (standing) Okay, fellas. You heard what the rooster said. Everyone out of the tree.



(The chickens all drop out of the tree, and walk away, clucking and pecking)

Un cochon, vêtu d'une tenue d'agriculteur et tenant un banjo, est assis sous un arbre. Si vous regardez attentivement, vous pouvez voir les contours de six poulets dans les feuilles de l'arbre.



Cochon: (chant) Oh, il y a des poulets dans les arbres,

Il y a des poulets dans les arbres.

Voulez-vous pas m'écouter, s'il vous plaît?



(brièvement, les poulets voltigent dans les branches)

Coq: (entrant par la droite) Excusez-moi, vieux cochon. Je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de t'entendre. Pourriez-vous chanter à nouveau cette chanson, s'il vous plaît?



Cochon: Pourquoi pas du tout - ahem ...

(chante) Oh, il y a des poulets dans les arbres,

Il y a des poulets dans les arbres.

Voulez-vous pas m'écouter, s'il vous plaît?



(brièvement, les poulets voltigent encore)

Rooster: Vous savez, c'est une très belle chanson, mais vous l'avez tout à fait mal. Il se trouve que je suis un poulet professionnel et je sais pertinemment que les poulets ne vivent pas dans les arbres.



Cochon: Hmmm ... c'est ça?



Coq: Absolument. L'idée même est tout à fait ridicule, assez ridicule. Des poulets dans les arbres, en effet. À quoi penseront-ils ensuite?



(tempête)



Pig: (debout) D'accord, les gars. Vous avez entendu ce que le coq a dit. Tout le monde sort de l'arbre.



(Les poulets tombent tous de l'arbre et s'éloignent en gloussant et en picorant)
