C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S - Christmas Songs

When I was but a youngster, Christmas meant one thing,

That I'd be getting lots of toys that day.



I learned a whole lot diff'rent when Mother sat me down

And taught me to spell Christmas this way:



"C" is for the Christ Child born upon this day;

"H" for herald angels in the night.

"R" means our Redeemer;

"I" means Israel;

"S" is for the star that shone so bright.

"T" is for the tree wise men,

They who travelled far.

"M" is for the manger where He lay.

"A" is for all He stands for;

"S" means shepherds came,

And that's why there's a Christmas Day.

Quand je n'étais qu'un jeune, Noël signifiait une chose,

Que j'obtiendrais beaucoup de jouets ce jour-là.



J'ai appris énormément de choses quand ma mère m'a assis

Et m'a appris à épeler Noël de cette façon:



"C" est pour l'enfant Christ né ce jour-là;

"H" pour les anges annonciateurs dans la nuit.

"R" signifie notre Rédempteur;

"Je" signifie Israël;

"S" est pour l'étoile qui brillait si brillamment.

"T" est pour les sages des arbres,

Ceux qui ont voyagé loin.

"M" est pour la crèche où Il gisait.

"A" est pour tout ce qu'il représente;

"S" signifie que les bergers sont venus,

Et c'est pourquoi il y a un jour de Noël.
