Digging Deep - Poor Old Lu

Always one of our more popular songs. I suppose that is because it features our long-time friend, Jeremy Enigk, who also sings with Sunny Day Real Estate. Aaron, Nick, Jeremy and I played together early on, if you can call it playing! We had fun. Since this song was written to be a duet, we thought it would be great to sing with Jeremy again. And so we did. Jeremy changed the lyrics slightly on the bridge (artistic license, I suppose), but it came out rather well. He also dreamt up the great background vocals!



'Digging Deep' is a song focused on reaching out to others, that is, with the Gospel. It is frightening. It is difficult. It is unnerving to put yourself 'out-on-a-limb' so much, but it is absolutely the calling of our Lord! There are times, however, when we don't heed the Word of God and we 'won't' share with someone... it could be that a seed will never be planted in them. This song ends with the first verse (again), but the idea is that this time we are going to follow through... though we are scared.

Toujours l'une de nos chansons les plus populaires. Je suppose que c'est parce qu'il présente notre ami de longue date, Jeremy Enigk, qui chante également avec Sunny Day Real Estate. Aaron, Nick, Jeremy et moi avons joué ensemble très tôt, si vous pouvez appeler ça jouer! Nous nous sommes amusés. Puisque cette chanson a été écrite pour être un duo, nous avons pensé que ce serait génial de chanter à nouveau avec Jeremy. Et nous l'avons fait. Jeremy a légèrement changé les paroles sur le pont (licence artistique, je suppose), mais ça s'est plutôt bien passé. Il a également imaginé la grande voix de fond!



Digging Deep est une chanson qui se concentre sur le contact avec les autres, c'est-à-dire avec l'Évangile. C'est effrayant. C'est difficile. Il est énervant de se mettre à bout de bras autant, mais c'est absolument l'appel de notre Seigneur! Il y a des moments, cependant, où nous n'écoutons pas la Parole de Dieu et que nous ne partageons pas avec quelqu'un ... il se pourrait qu'une semence ne soit jamais plantée en eux. Cette chanson se termine avec le premier couplet (encore une fois), mais l'idée est que cette fois, nous allons poursuivre ... bien que nous ayons peur.
