John 19:1-30

In the heat of early morning on a hill they call the Skull

The roaring of the angry mob had settled to a lull

All eyes were cast upon the man whose hands and feet were bound

They saw him cry in anguish when they heard the hammer pound



They saw the bloody woven thorns with which his head was crowned

They watched the bloody cross of wood be dropped into the ground

The soldiers gambled for his clothes, they watched them win and lose

They saw the sign above his head that said "King of the Jews"



(It is finished) And the sky grew black as the night

(It is finished) And the people scattered in fright

The work had been done, redemption had been won

The war was over without a fight

It is finished



They searched his face for anger for vengeance in his stare

Instead of eyes that burned with hate a look of love was there

He prayed for their forgiveness and bowed his battered head

And no one knew the meaning of the final words he said



It is finished, the provision has been made

It is finished, the foundation has been laid

He paid the ransom due and tore the temple veil in two

And opened up the way for me and you

Dans la chaleur du petit matin sur une colline, ils appellent le crâne

Ils l'ont vu pleurer d'angoisse quand ils ont entendu le marteau.



Ils ont vu les épines sanglantes tissées avec lesquelles sa tête était couronnée

Ils ont regardé la sanglante croix de bois tomber dans le sol

Les soldats ont joué pour ses vêtements, ils les ont vus gagner et perdre

Ils ont vu le signe au-dessus de sa tête qui disait "Roi des Juifs"



(C'est fini) Et le ciel est devenu noir comme la nuit

(C'est fini) Et les gens dispersés de peur

Le travail avait été fait, le rachat avait été gagné \u003cbr />
La guerre était finie sans combat

C'est fini



Ils ont fouillé son visage à la recherche de colère pour se venger dans son regard

Au lieu d'yeux qui brûlaient de haine, un regard d'amour était là \u003cbr />
Il a prié pour leur pardon et a incliné la tête battue

Et personne ne connaissait le sens des derniers mots qu'il a dit



C'est fini, la mise à disposition a été faite

C'est fini, les fondations ont été posées

Il a payé la rançon due et a déchiré le voile du temple en deux

Et a ouvert la voie pour moi et toi
