High Hopes - Nightwish

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road ,long down to the causeway
Do they still meet there by the cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
When friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
but the highest altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
though down this road we've been so many times

Nos pensées s'égaraient constamment et sans frontière
La sonnerie de la cloche de division avait commencé
Le long de la longue route, jusqu'à la chaussée
Se rencontrent-ils toujours là par la coupure
Il y avait un groupe en lambeaux qui a suivi nos traces
Courir avant le temps a emporté nos rêves
Laissant la myriade de petites créatures essayer de nous attacher au sol
Pour une vie dévorée par une décomposition lente

L'herbe était plus verte
La lumière était plus brillante
Quand des amis sont entourés
Les nuits d'émerveillement

Regardant au-delà des braises de ponts qui brillent derrière nous
Pour un aperçu de la façon dont il était vert de l'autre côté
Des pas en avant mais un nouveau somnambulisme
Traîné par la force d'une marée intérieure
mais la plus haute altitude avec le drapeau déployé
Nous avons atteint les hauteurs vertigineuses de ce monde rêvé

Nos yeux las s'égarent toujours à l'horizon
mais sur cette route, nous avons été tellement de fois
