Halfway down the stairs - Muppets

Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit.

There isn't any other stair quite like it.

I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top.

So this is the stair where I always stop.



Halfway up the stairs isn't up and isn't down.

It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town.

And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head.

It isn't really anywhere, it's somewhere else instead.

Il n'y a pas d'autre escalier comme celui-ci.

Je ne suis pas en bas, je ne suis pas en haut.

C'est donc l'escalier où je m'arrête toujours.



À mi-hauteur, l'escalier n'est pas en haut et en bas.

Ce n'est pas dans la crèche, ce n'est pas dans la ville.

Et toutes sortes de pensées drôles circulent autour de ma tête.

Ce n'est pas vraiment n'importe où, c'est ailleurs ailleurs.
