A Dream - LOU REED AND JOHN CALE

It was a very cold clear fall night.

I had a terrible dream the other night. Billy Name and Brigid were

playingunder my stair case on the secaond floor about two o'clock

in the morning I woke up because Amos and Archie had started barking.

That made me very angry because I wasn't feeling well and I told them.

I was very cross the real me, that they just better remenber waht

happened to Sam the Bad Cat that was left at home and got sick and went pussy heaven.

It was a very cold clear fall night. Some snowfalkes were falling,

gee it was so beautiful, and so I went to get my camera to take some

pictures. And then I was taking the pictures but the exposure thing

wasn't right and I was going to call Fred or Gerry to find out how

to get it set but oh it was late and then I remembered they were still

probably at dinner and anyway I felt really bad and didn't want to

talk to anybody anyway but the snowflakes were so beautiful and real

looking and I really wanted to hold them. And that's when I heard

the voices from down the hall near the stairs. So I got a flashlight

and I was scared and I went out into the hallway. There's been all

kinds of troubles lately in the neighborhood and someone's got to

bring home the bacon and anyway there were Brigid and Billy playing.

And under the stair case was a little meadow sort of like the park at

23rd street where all the young kids go and play frisbee, gee that

must be fun, maybe we should do an article on that in the magazine,

butthey'll just tell me I'm stupid and it won't sell, but I'll just

hold my ground this time, I mean it's my magazine isn't it?

So I was thinking that as the snowflakes fell and I heard those

voices having so much fun. Gee it would be so great to have some

C'était une nuit d'automne très froide et claire.

J'ai fait un rêve terrible l'autre soir. Billy Name et Brigid étaient

jouant sous mon escalier au deuxième étage vers deux heures

le matin je me suis réveillé parce qu'Amos et Archie avaient commencé à aboyer.

Cela m'a mis très en colère parce que je ne me sentais pas bien et je leur ai dit.

J'étais très mécontent du vrai moi, pour qu'ils se souviennent mieux de ce que

est arrivé à Sam le mauvais chat qui a été laissé à la maison et est tombé malade et est allé au paradis de la chatte.

C'était une nuit d'automne très froide et claire. Quelques chutes de neige tombaient,

gee c'était tellement beau, alors je suis allé chercher mon appareil photo pour en prendre

des photos. Et puis je prenais les photos mais le truc de l'exposition

n'allait pas et j'allais appeler Fred ou Gerry pour savoir comment

pour le mettre en place mais oh il était tard et je me suis souvenu qu'ils étaient encore

probablement au dîner et de toute façon je me sentais vraiment mal et je ne voulais pas

parler à n'importe qui de toute façon mais les flocons de neige étaient si beaux et réels

à la recherche et je voulais vraiment les tenir. Et c'est là que j'ai entendu

les voix du bout du couloir près des escaliers. Alors j'ai une lampe de poche

et j'ai eu peur et je suis sorti dans le couloir. Il y a eu tout

types de problèmes ces derniers temps dans le quartier et quelqu'un doit

ramener le bacon à la maison et de toute façon, Brigid et Billy jouaient.

Et sous l'escalier se trouvait une petite prairie un peu comme le parc de

23ème rue où tous les jeunes enfants vont jouer au frisbee, ça va

doit être amusant, peut-être devrions-nous faire un article à ce sujet dans le magazine,

mais ils vont juste me dire que je suis stupide et que ça ne se vendra pas, mais je vais juste

tiens bon cette fois, je veux dire que c'est mon magazine n'est-ce pas?

Alors je pensais que les flocons de neige tombaient et j'ai entendu ces

des voix qui s'amusent tellement. Ce serait génial d'en avoir
