a place where the moon and the sun does as it pleases

a place where everybody knows everybody else's business

a place that basically could be anywhere

When the sun took a day off and the moon stood still

The only light that was in sight was the one just past that ol' onion field

if you look from where I'm standing you'll see that old scarecrow

they say if you look too low he might jump off that window

but between you and me I think that's a bunch of 'hey, you know'

some people believe he's responsible for the death of Old Man Dan

they found him without his thinking cap with straw in his hand

and the strangest thing about it's that they never found his head

they never found his head

god dammit they never found Old Man Dan's head...

nah, didn't go like that at all

see I just hid it and his eye was crooked and I wanted his eyeball

and things got out of hand

and Old Man Dan had to die

nous faisons un voyage à travers une histoire

à un lieu et à une heure

dans une petite ville

mais en écoutant, vous ne ferez pas attention à la petite ville

et l'heure et le lieu

un endroit où la lune et le soleil font ce qu'il veut

un endroit où tout le monde connaît les affaires de tout le monde

un endroit qui pourrait être n'importe où \u003cbr />

Quand le soleil a pris un jour de congé et que la lune s'est arrêtée

La seule lumière qui était en vue était celle juste après ce vieux champ d'oignon

si vous regardez d'où je me tiens, vous verrez ce vieil épouvantail

ils disent que si vous regardez trop bas, il pourrait sauter de cette fenêtre

mais entre toi et moi je pense que c'est un tas de 'hé, tu sais'

certaines personnes pensent qu'il est responsable de la mort du vieil homme Dan

ils l'ont trouvé sans sa casquette réfléchissante avec de la paille à la main

et le plus étrange, c'est qu'ils n'ont jamais retrouvé sa tête

Bon sang, ils n'ont jamais trouvé la tête du vieil homme Dan ...

et ils ne le trouveront jamais

Parce que je l'ai pris

non, je ne suis pas du tout allé comme ça

vois je viens de le cacher et son ?il était tordu et je voulais son globe oculaire

et les choses sont devenues incontrôlables

et le vieil homme Dan devait mourir

à cause de cet ?il

Je peux vous raconter des histoires d'épouvantail un mensonge

ce que j'ai fait ici

quand la lune était pleine et le soleil sur le point de se lever

les gens qui marchent en pensant à cette tête à l'aube pleurent
