Laurie Strange Things Happen - Dickey Lee

Last night at the dance I met Laurie,

So lovely and warm, an angel of a girl.

Last night I fell in love with Laurie -

Strange things happen in this world.



As I walked her home,

She said it was her birthday.

I pulled her close and said

"Will I see you anymore?"

Then suddenly she asked for my sweater

And said that she was very, very cold.



I kissed her goodnight

At her door and started home,

Then thought about my sweater

And went right back instead.

I knocked at her door and a man appeared.

I told why I'd come, then he said:



"You're wrong, son.

You weren't with my daughter.

How can you be so cruel

To come to me this way?

My Laurie left this world on her birthday -

She died a year ago today."



A strange force drew me to the graveyard.

I stood in the dark,

I saw the shadows wave,

And then I looked and saw my sweater

Lyin' there upon her grave.



Strange things happen in this world

Hier soir, au bal, j'ai rencontré Laurie,

Tellement charmant et chaleureux, un ange de fille.

Hier soir, je suis tombé amoureux de Laurie -

Des choses étranges se produisent dans ce monde.



Alors que je la raccompagnais chez elle,

Elle a dit que c'était son anniversaire.

Je l'ai tirée contre moi et j'ai dit

"Vais-je te voir plus?"

Puis soudain elle a demandé mon pull

Et dit qu'elle avait très, très froid.



Je lui ai embrassé bonne nuit

A sa porte et a commencé à la maison,

Puis j'ai pensé à mon pull

Et je suis retourné à la place.

J'ai frappé à sa porte et un homme est apparu.

J'ai dit pourquoi j'étais venu, puis il a dit:



"Vous vous trompez, mon fils.

Tu n'étais pas avec ma fille.

Comment pouvez-vous être si cruel

Pour venir me voir par ici?

Ma Laurie a quitté ce monde le jour de son anniversaire -

Elle est décédée il y a un an aujourd'hui. "



Une force étrange m'a attiré au cimetière.

Je me tenais dans le noir,

J'ai vu les ombres onduler,

Et puis j'ai regardé et vu mon pull

Lyin 'là-bas sur sa tombe.
