Chasing Shadows



1999 was summertime and everyone was looking into the sky.

Searching for dreams and so it seems that everyone headed off down to Cornwall.

I can’t think of a more exciting way

To boost the British tourist trade & sell a load of Cornish Pasties;

Everyone will know where they were the day

When time stood still and they were chasing shadows.



The sun and moon approaching soon configuration with the earth in the sky,

And I can bet that you did get a kind of strange eerie silence.

From the garden, the street, the public park,

From Southminster to Burnham, even in Great Baddow,

You feel small when you’re standing in the dark

When time stands still and you are chasing shadows.



Now it’s all over, you discover that your neighbour has a glint in her eye;

After a hug, roll up your rug and throw away plastic glasses.

Words cry out like the song that strokes your lips

And part of you is thinking of the year 2000,

The next excuse for a party to eclipse

A summer to remember as we sing out loud:

“Unite the community across our land,

From Crouch to Blackwater, we all feel glad to

Start a new century holding our hands

And move on forward without chasing shadows

1999 était l'été et tout le monde regardait dans le ciel.

À la recherche de rêves et il semble donc que tout le monde soit parti pour Cornwall.

Je ne peux pas penser à une manière plus excitante

Pour stimuler le commerce touristique britannique et vendre une charge de pâtisseries de Cornouailles;

Tout le monde saura où ils étaient le jour

Quand le temps s'est arrêté et qu'ils chassaient les ombres.



La configuration du soleil et de la lune approche bientôt avec la terre dans le ciel,

Et je peux parier que vous avez obtenu une sorte de silence étrange étrange.

Depuis le jardin, la rue, le parc public,

De Southminster à Burnham, même à Great Baddow,

Vous vous sentez petit lorsque vous vous tenez dans le noir

Quand le temps s'arrête et que vous poursuivez des ombres.



Maintenant c'est fini, vous découvrez que votre voisin a une lueur dans l'?il;

Après un câlin, enroulez votre tapis et jetez les verres en plastique.

Les mots crient comme la chanson qui caresse tes lèvres

Et une partie de vous pense à l'an 2000,

La prochaine excuse pour une fête pour éclipser

Un été à retenir en chantant à haute voix:

?Unir la communauté à travers notre pays,

De Crouch à Blackwater, nous sommes tous heureux de

Commencez un nouveau siècle en nous tenant par la main

Et avancer sans chasser les ombres
