In the Tower of London, large as life,

The ghost of Anne Boleyn walks, they declare.

For Anne Boleyn was once King Henry's wife,

Until he had the headsman bob her hair.

Oh, yes, he did her wrong long years ago,

And she comes back at night to tell him so.

With her 'ead tucked underneath her arm,

She walks the bloody Tower,

With her head tucked underneath her arm,

At the midnight hour.



She comes to haunt King Henry, she means giving him what-for

Gadzooks, she's going to tell him off, for spilling of her gore.

And just in case the headsman wants to give her encore,

She has her head tucked underneath her arm.

Now sometimes gay King Henry gives a spread,

For all his pals and gals, a ghastly crew,

The 'eadsman carve the joint and cuts the bread,

When in comes Anne Boleyn to queer the do.

She holds her head up with a wild war whoop,

And Henry cries, "don't drop it in the soup!"



She walks the endless corridors, for miles and miles she goes,

She often catches cold, poor dear, it's drafty when it blows,

And it's awfully, awfully awkward for the queen

to blow her nose,

With her head tucked underneath her arm.



The sentries think that it's a football that she carries in,

And when they've had a few they shout, "Is Army going to win?"

They think that it's Red Grange instead of poor old Anne

Boleyn

With her head tucked underneath her arm.

One night she caught King Henry, he was in the canteen bar,

He said, "Are you Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, or Catherine

Parr?

Well, how are?

With your head tucked underneath your arm?

Dans la Tour de Londres, grande comme la vie,

Le fantôme d'Anne Boleyn marche, déclarent-ils.

Car Anne Boleyn était autrefois l'épouse du roi Henry,

Jusqu'à ce qu'il ait les cheveux coiffés par le chef.

Oh, oui, il lui a fait du mal il y a longtemps,

Et elle revient le soir pour le lui dire.

Avec sa tête cachée sous son bras,

Elle marche dans la tour sanglante,

Elle vient hanter le roi Henry, elle veut lui donner quoi pour quoi

Gadzooks, elle va lui dire, pour avoir renversé son sang.

Et juste au cas où le chef voudrait lui donner encore,

Elle a la tête cachée sous son bras.

Maintenant, parfois, le roi Henry gay donne une propagation,

Pour tous ses copains et copines, un équipage épouvantable,

Le 'eadman sculpte le joint et coupe le pain,

Quand arrive Anne Boleyn pour faire la queue.

Elle lève la tête avec un cri de guerre sauvage,

Et Henry crie, "ne le laisse pas tomber dans la soupe!"



Elle parcourt les couloirs sans fin, sur des kilomètres et des kilomètres, elle va,

Elle attrape souvent du froid, pauvre chérie, il y a des courants d'air quand ça souffle,

Et c'est terriblement, terriblement maladroit pour la reine

se moucher,

Avec sa tête repliée sous son bras.



Les sentinelles pensent que c'est un ballon de football qu'elle porte,

Et quand ils en ont eu quelques-uns, ils crient: "L'armée va-t-elle gagner?"

Ils pensent que c'est Red Grange au lieu de la pauvre vieille Anne

Boleyn

Avec sa tête repliée sous son bras.

Une nuit, elle a attrapé le roi Henry, il était dans le bar de la cantine,

Il a dit: "Êtes-vous Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn ou Catherine

Parr?

Eh bien, comment voulez-vous que je sache qui vous êtes en enfer?

Avec ta tête glissée sous ton bras?
