It was automation, I know

That was what was making the factory go

It was IBM

It was Univac

It was all those gears going

Clickity clack, dear

I thought automation was keen

Till you were replaced by a ten-ton machine

It was a computer that tore us apart, dear

Automation broke my heart.



There's an RCA 5-0-3

Standing next to me, dear, where you used to be

Doesn't have your smile

Doesn't have your shape,

Just a bunch of punch cards and light bulbs and tape, dear

You're a girl who's soft, warm and sweet

But you're only human and that's obsolete

Though I'm very fond of that new 5-0-3, dear Automation's not for

me.



It was automation, I'm told That s why I got fired and I'm out in

the cold How could I have known When the 5-0-3

Started in to blink it was winking at me, dear

I thought it was just some mishap

When it sidled over and sat on my lap

But when it said "l love you " and gave me a hug, dear

That's when I pulled out. . . its plug.

C'était de l'automatisation, je sais

C'est ce qui faisait marcher l'usine

C'était IBM

C'était Univac

C'était tous ces engrenages qui allaient

Je pensais que l'automatisation était un vif

Jusqu'à ce que vous soyez remplacé par une machine de dix tonnes

C'était un ordinateur qui nous a déchirés, cher

L'automatisation m'a brisé le c?ur.

Debout à côté de moi, mon cher, où tu étais

N'a pas ton sourire

N'a pas votre forme,

Juste un tas de cartes perforées, d'ampoules et de ruban adhésif, cher

Tu es une fille douce, chaude et douce

Mais vous n'êtes qu'humain et c'est obsolète

Bien que j'aime beaucoup ce nouveau 5-0-3, cher Automation n'est pas pour

moi.



C?était l?automatisation, on me dit que c?est pourquoi j?ai été viré et je suis sorti
le froid Comment aurais-je pu savoir Quand le 5-0-3

Commencé à cligner des yeux, il me faisait un clin d'?il, cher

Je pensais que c'était juste un incident

Quand il s'est glissé et s'est assis sur mes genoux

Mais quand il a dit "je t'aime" et m'a fait un câlin, cher

C'est alors que je me suis retiré. . . sa prise.
