Well, a strange thing happened the other night

You won't believe it, but I swear it's true

Harry the hairy ape made his escape from the city zoo

& under cover of darkness he made his way

To the middle of the municipal park

& he hid in the bushes & waited for somebody to come

Walkin' along by hi'self in the dark

Then along come somebody not suspectin' nothin'

Harry jump out of the bushes all of a sudden

Beat on his chest (sound effect of this action)

Jump up & down & he say:

Wooo-hoo-hee-hee-hoo-hoo...

Which is Harry-Ape talk for "Boo, I betcha I scared you, ha ha!"



Waaa! Scared that poor cat so bad his eyes bugged out, his hair turned white!

He ran off through the municipal park, screamin', hollerin', diggin' up the lawn,

tearin' up the shrub & knock down the "Keep off the grass" sign, run through the

hurricane fence, fell into the municipal park swimming pool & drowned hi'self! Woo

hoo!



Well, Harry thought this was the funniest thing that he had ever seen

& he laughed "Ha ha," jumped back in the bushes & got ready to do it again

The next guy to come along was the near-sighted local DJ

Just boppin' down the sidewalk on his way to work with a box of records on his arm

that he was gonna play

So here he come, not suspectin' nothin'

Harry jump out of the bushes all of a sudden

Beat on his chest (sound effect of this action)

Jump up & down & he say:

Wooo-hoo-hee-hee-hoo-hoo...

Which is Harry-Ape talk for "Smile, you're on candid camera!"



Man, that DJ was so near-sighted he thought Harry was a rock 'n' roll singer!

So he gave him the old glad hand, smiled, slapped him on the back, sayin',

"Don't worry, baby, I'm gonna play the record 'cause you're too cool, too cool, too

cool!" & he said bye, bopped on off down the sidewalk; every 4 or 5 steps he'd stop &

turn around,

doin' a little boogaloo-shing-a-ling!

Well, this really shook Harry up, I mean it blew his whole bit, you know, ruined his

whole day So he run back to his cage as fast as he can go, jump up on his little swing,

put both hands

over his eyes & didn't look for 3 hours & 45 minutes. But that's not the end of the

story

Here's what happened:



The DJ played Harry's record (What record?) Shut up!

It was a hit and he became a star

Got him some tight britches, got him a manager

Went on a promotion tour, combed his hair back & took up playin' the guitar

& every Sunday afternoon you can go see Harry at the zoo

& the girls will scream & he'll sit on his swing & pick & sing his hit record for you



(backing vocals over ape noises):

Eh bien, une chose étrange s'est produite l'autre nuit

Vous ne le croirez pas, mais je jure que c'est vrai

Harry le singe velu s'est échappé du zoo de la ville

& sous le couvert de l'obscurité il a fait son chemin

Au milieu du parc municipal

& il s'est caché dans les buissons et a attendu que quelqu'un vienne

Marcher seul dans le noir

Puis vient quelqu'un qui ne soupçonne rien

Harry saute des buissons tout d'un coup

Battre sur sa poitrine (effet sonore de cette action)

Saute de haut en bas et il dit:

Wooo-hoo-hee-hee-hoo-hoo ...

Quel est le discours de Harry-Ape pour "Boo, je parie que je t'ai fait peur, ha ha!"



Waaa! Effrayé ce pauvre chat si mauvais que ses yeux se sont ouverts, ses cheveux sont devenus blancs!

Il a couru à travers le parc municipal, hurlant, criant, creusant la pelouse,

déchirer l'arbuste et abattre le panneau "Ne pas marcher sur l'herbe", traverser le

barrière d'ouragan, est tombé dans la piscine du parc municipal et s'est noyé! Woo

hoo!



Eh bien, Harry pensait que c'était la chose la plus drôle qu'il ait jamais vue

& il a ri "Ha ha", a sauté dans les buissons et s'est préparé à recommencer

Le prochain à venir était le DJ local myope

Juste boppin 'sur le trottoir en allant travailler avec une boîte de disques sur son bras

qu'il allait jouer

Alors le voici venu, ne soupçonnant rien

Harry saute des buissons tout d'un coup

Battre sur sa poitrine (effet sonore de cette action)

Saute de haut en bas et il dit:

Wooo-hoo-hee-hee-hoo-hoo ...

Mec, ce DJ était si myope qu'il pensait qu'Harry était un chanteur de rock 'n' roll!

Alors il lui a donné la vieille main heureuse, a souri, l'a giflé dans le dos, en disant,

"Ne t'inquiète pas, bébé, je vais jouer l'album parce que tu es trop cool, trop cool aussi

cool! "& il a dit au revoir, il sautait sur le trottoir; tous les 4 ou 5 pas, il s'arrêtait &

faire demi-tour,

faire un petit boogaloo-shing-a-ling!

Eh bien, ça a vraiment bouleversé Harry, je veux dire que ça a tout gâché, tu sais, a ruiné sa

toute la journée Alors il a couru vers sa cage aussi vite que possible, saute sur sa petite balançoire,

mettre les deux mains

sur ses yeux et n'a pas regardé pendant 3 heures et 45 minutes. Mais ce n'est pas la fin de la

histoire

Voici ce qui s'est passé:



Le DJ a joué le disque de Harry (Quel disque?) Tais-toi!

C'était un succès et il est devenu une star

Je lui ai donné des sous-vêtements serrés, je lui ai trouvé un manager

A fait une tournée de promotion, a coiffé ses cheveux en arrière et a commencé à jouer de la guitare

& tous les dimanches après-midi, vous pouvez aller voir Harry au zoo

et les filles hurleront et il s'assiéra sur sa balançoire et choisira et chantera son disque à succès pour vous
