Well I woke up Sunday morning

with no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt

and the beer I had for breakfast

wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes

and found my cleanest dirty shirt

it's the one I'm wearin'

and I shaved my face and combed my hair

and stumbled down the stairs to meet the day



I'd smoked my brain the night before

or I smoked so much the night before

with cigarettes and songs that I've been pickin'

my mouth was like an ashtray I'd been lickin'

but I lit my first and watched a small kid

cussin' at a can that he was kicking

then I crossed the empty street

and caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken

and it took me back to somethin'

that I'd lost somehow somewhere along the way

Eh bien je me suis réveillé dimanche matin

sans aucun moyen de me tenir la tête, ça n'a pas fait mal

et la bière que j'ai eue pour le petit déjeuner

n'était pas mauvais donc j'en ai eu un de plus pour le dessert

puis j'ai fouillé dans mon placard pour mes vêtements

et j'ai trouvé ma chemise sale la plus propre

c'est celui que je porte

et je me suis rasé le visage et me suis coiffé les cheveux

et suis tombé dans les escaliers pour rencontrer la journée



J'avais fumé mon cerveau la nuit précédente

ou j'ai tellement fumé la veille

avec des cigarettes et des chansons que j'ai choisies

ma bouche était comme un cendrier que j'avais léché \u003cbr />
mais j'ai allumé mon premier et regardé un petit enfant

cussin 'à une boîte qu'il donnait un coup de pied

puis j'ai traversé la rue vide

et pris l'odeur du dimanche de quelqu'un qui fait frire du poulet

et ça m'a ramené à quelque chose

que j'avais perdu quelque part en cours de route

Dans le parc, j'ai vu un papa

avec une petite fille riante qu'il swinguait

et je me suis arrêté à côté d'une école du dimanche

et écouté la chanson qu'ils chantaient

puis je suis rentré à la maison et

quelque part loin une cloche solitaire sonnait

et il a fait écho à travers le canyon comme

les rêves disparus d'hier.
